Six Months Livelihood Training for 10 Afghan Women Headed Family in India

Shuhada Organization identified 10 vulnerable and headed family women throughout Afghanistan to participate in a six month livelihood training program in Barefoot College (BFC), Tilonia, Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. The women have been selected based on BFC criteria and introduced to it for attending in the training course. They have been provided orientation on training process, travel, food, accommodation etc. and SO representative had been invited to accompany the Afghan solar trainees traveling to Barefoot College India. The 10 Afghan female solar trainees have successfully passed six months of solar training to assembling electronic devices producing solar lighting tools, power controllers and installation of the solar system for lighting houses. Barefoot College has celebrated graduation of 10 Afghan mamas including 35 mamas who have participated in solar training from 10 other countries at the end of six months. Their graduation has got media coverage by BFC and The Time of India. Trained solar Afghan Mamas have promised to open solar system installation, repairing of solar system and electronic devices workshops in their relative provinces. This can support them being connected with sustainable income for running their family in a proper manner. Besides that, they agreed to train other Afghan valuable family members on assembling, installing and repairing solar and electronic devices and solar system.
