Job Description

Responsibilities: 

1) Carry out nursing-related tasks according to the instructions of doctors and assigned specialists, such as giving injections, administering the correct medication dosages, and dressing wounds.

2) Ensure vital signs are recorded, examinations are complete, and patient files are organized and in line with guidelines.

3) Monitor and maintain patient hygiene and health, and manage recovery and admission of patients with the guidance of nursing management and relevant specialists.

4) Actively participate in morning reports and rounds, and adhere to all medical ethics standards.

5) Prepare bedridden patients for surgery.

6) Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards and other necessary hospital standards.

7) Perform 24-hour on-duty tasks according to the duty schedule organized by the administration.

8) Prepare and organize monthly, quarterly, and annual work plans.

9) Perform other minor surgery procedures, dressing, casting, ear lavage, stomach lavage, eye care, stitching, inserting NG tube, Foley catheter, rectal tube, suppositories, injections, circumcision, CPR, etc., depending on the patient’s visit, type of illness, and situation.

10) Timely reporting on the progress and nature of nursing department activities.

11) Timely informing operating room personnel to prepare in-bed patients for surgery and promptly alerting the required nurses and specialists if the patient’s condition worsens.

12) Taking care of and timely restocking the emergency cabinet and other essential items in the emergency department.

13) Following the organization’s policy regarding attendance and leave.

14) Having good manners and behavior with staff and hospital visitors.

15) Performing other duties as necessary, as assigned by the hospital administration.

Conditions:

  1. Having at least a nursing institute diploma or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized higher or mid-level education institute.
  2. At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a hospital, clinic, or health center.
  3. Familiarity with nursing principles and procedures, patient care, infection prevention and control (IPC), first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  4. Ability to perform basic nursing procedures.
  5. Skills in using computers, especially Office programs.
  6. Fluency in Dari and Pashto; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  7. Strong communication skills, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  8. Ability to work night shifts, 24-hour duties, and under pressure.
  9. Being honest, responsible, maintaining patient confidentiality, and upholding professional ethics.
